Fruit Heights has a small commercial base and limited opportunities for growth. I support responsible budgeting, seeking state and federal grants for parks, trails, and infrastructure—with full transparency about costs and obligations.
Growth & Land Use
There are several key land use discussions: developing the limited space in city limits, a potential cemetery in the foothills and possible development of the county golf course. I will push for open dialogue, fiscal analysis, and long-term thinking before major zoning changes.
Public Safety & Crime
Car burglaries have increased. Vandalism continues to weigh heavily on public resources. We rely on the Davis County Sheriff, and they need our support. I advocate for Neighborhood Watch programs, community alerts, and better communication about prevention.
Backyard Chickens Ordinance
Many residents want to raise chickens but it took a public outcry before the city officials responded. I support balanced, clear guidelines and timely follow-through to ensure residents are heard.
Mandatory Recycling Bins
City officials decided that residents must now pay for recycling bins, whether they use them or not. I support conservation, but I also support choice and transparency. We must do better in communicating why and how these decisions are made.
Rising Property Taxes
Property values are rising to unreasonable levels—so are taxes. Seniors and families are feeling the squeeze. I’ll advocate for more accessible tax relief programs and better education on how to appeal assessments.
